In living colour
Just smegging around with the colour scheme as I am bored with the old one. Not sure about this one, but prefer it to the old style. Comments? Is it easier on the eyes than the old green scheme version?
The Woolamaloo Gazette is a satirical newspaper I first started on email way back in 1992. It allows me to vent steam on stories which are bugging me or amusing me and hopefully make people think at the same time. Satire is the best defence in any democracy. The rest is just my ramblings, mumblings or rants. You can contact me via "laughing penguin (at) woolamaloo (dot) org (dot) uk" (remembering to swap at for @ and mind the gaps)

I'm a 30-something blogger in Edinburgh, once sacked by my former employer for comments on the blog. I'm a bookseller and a serious book and movie fan, also posting reviews on books, graphic novels and movies regularly. The rest of my time is spent in thinking up smartarse comments, tickling my cats and supporting my local brewery.

the yellow is better but peachy background a bit lame.... also, the text you use for your list of links of the right is a tad difficult to read... any improvements??
otherwise, GREAT blog. I log in everyday (from Sydney) and read the blogs you've uploaded overnight whilst I sleep.
Thanks!
Joe, the comments from contributors don't work on the website in the new colour scheme.
Shame really, I like it - v.bright - but (shrug) it doesn't quite work for anyone trying to read comments.
TT.
Very pretty, but much harder on the eyes
I am colour blind and with your new colour scheme I cannot see the text in the comments.
no, the old one is better. the yellow background just makes eyes tired.
No! No no no no no no NO!
For the love of all the gods man, I know you come from a race of people who think that tartan is generally a good thing, but you have *got* to install something clean and minimalist before the style police cart you away in a burlap sack...
Either that, or I'll hack into your account and change it myself when you're not looking. Consider that a promise.
With sunglasses on and a good sun blocker, it's OK. To read the comments written in lemon juice, the old trick is to approach a flame to the text, while quickly wiping the display that should turn black from the candle' soot. Works for me everytime.
Argh! No! Please no! You seem like a creative guy, you must be able to come up with something better than that. As suggested, definately consider a clean minimalist design...
While I'm here, I just wanted to wish you well in your new job. I've become a regular visitor to your blog since seeing it on the bbc news site regarding the whole Waterstones business. I was so pleased to hear you're moving on to bigger and better things. Good luck with it, I hope it all goes well.
Best wishes

Maybe it's cos I was brought up on a green scheme, but I can't read any of the above posts?
Very nice. I use it because it fits my nautical theme and I'm too lazy to look for another template....cheers Dick
For those who had trouble reading the comments set on the yellow-ish background, and had concluded that the comments were invisible, if at all there, then it seems Joe was using invisible ink (-:.
But no need to turn up the heating to reveal the contents (e.g. invisible comments on cats V terrorists): Simply highlight the areas of missing text. You know, like when you left click with the mouse and scroll down...and it's hey presto!
Unles of course I'm the last to have figured out that one!
